Outbreak

In 1967 Billy Ford (Morgan Freeman) discovers a virus in Zaire called "Motaba" with a death rate of 100% and which kills within 24 hours of infection. The U.S. government assumea that bombing the infected population will destroy the only outbreak.

30 years later, Sam Daniels (Dustin Hoffman) is sent to Zaire to investigate an epidemic outbreak, To conduct the necessary studies he urges his superior, Billy Ford, to decreed a state of alert, but Ford knows that the virus is not new and this cannot become of public knowledge. The U.S. Army is sent to annihilate a small camp in Zaire, where the dangerous virus is killing people at high speed.

However a small monkey carrier of the virus is captured and transported illegally by boat from Zaire to the United States. Jimbo Scott (Patrick Dempsey) who tried to sell it in the black market is infected during this task, propitiating the spread of the virus among the people.

Daniels and his ex-wife Robby Keough (Rene Russo) will research the infections that have occurred in order to find a cure for the deadly virus that threatens to spread throughout the country and the world.
