Bowfinger is
the name of a director of cheap and mediocre films on the brink of failure.
When there seems to be no way out, this director (Steve Martin) has a prodigious
idea: make a movie with Kit Ramsey (Eddie Murphy), one of the most renowned
stars of the moment.
The actor's
popularity is so great that the tape definitely will be a blockbuster. There is
only one small problem: Bowfinger has no budget to pay the exorbitant fees
Ramsey asks for.
Our
seasoned manager will stop at nothing. He then decides to shoot the film with a
hidden camera without the star realizing this, making his mediocre actors interact with the star in the most absurd ways.
Ramsey,
meanwhile, is convinced that aliens are chasing him, a circumstance that allows the action to trigger a succession of fun mistakes.
Bowfinger, clearly, is no wonder. However, the film manages to offer the public around an hour and a half of good entertainment and some laughter.
Standing out are the work of Eddie Murphy in the role of the dumb brother of Ramsey and Christine Baranski's
performance as the first actress in Bowfinger’s precarious cast. The end is
not much worth talking about: it is simply disastrous.
